NHS WIG SERVICE

Here at Number 8 salon we have a private room in our back shop area, "the wig room." We have dedicated the room to this wonderful purpose for the past 2 years. To begin with we only dealt with private customers, however we always had the goal to offer our wigs to NHS patients with prescriptions. We completed our training in May 2021 with Wigsco a company based in Bournemouth. We are so proud to offer this service in a small town like Brechin, it is lovely to have customers coming to us from all over Angus and Aberdeenshire.

Since completing our training, Hayley made it her mission to get us connected with NHS. From March 2022 we have been working as an agent for LA Hair Solutions who are a contractor for NHS. They are fantastic to work alongside. We have stock of 30+ wigs for our clients to try for size, style and colour. But we also have many brochures from a selection of brands, meaning there are hundreds of wigs to choose from. We have now supplied over 60 wigs to NHS clients.

We still work with some private clients but our work in "the wig room" is mostly now with clients who have received prescription from NHS due to hair loss. Therefore, we do not have much experience in working with human hair wigs. As it is in very rare circumstances that anyone will be prescribed a human hair wig. We often have private clients who come into us wanting human hair but end up going with synthetic due to the quality of them having improved tremendously over the years.

We have done a few presentations at local groups to spread the word of this service we offer as this quite a difficult one to advertise due to the sensitivity around the topic. All our customers have been over the moon when leaving "the wig room," so in time we intend to have a separate website/social media where we can publish the wonderful feedback, we have received from them.
